  • Me: LeRoy
  • Age: old enough to have grey hair
  • Childhood Ambition:  For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be on the radio.  Once I got past the age of wanting to be a Cowboy Astronaut Race Car Driver.
  • Fondest Memory:  My first concert ever.  Charlie Daniels Band at the Dubuque (IA) County Fair
  • Soundtrack:  As long as its got a beat, its awesome, but right now it’s the Zac Brown Band
  • Retreat:  Eldora Speedway, but any dirt track will do
  • Wildest Dream:  Hosting the CMA awards!
  • Proudest Moment:  I’ll let ya know.  I haven’t achieved it yet
  • Perfect Day:   Concert early in the day followed by a fantastic dirt race.
  • First Job:  I, like many of my generation, started under the “Golden Arches”  until I had to miss a few days of work to go to the fair.
  • Favorite Movie:  It’s a tie between The Shawshank Redemption and The Hangover. No, I don’t have split personalities.
  • My Life:  Is pretty darn good right now.  I am truly blessed to be living in a town like Sioux City and doing what I love!

Cowboy Bob

Oh Boy!   Here comes another bio for our web page and I guess after 30 years in the biz I can start calling myself one of Siouxland’s Radio Old-timers.    I started in radio back in 1981 by hosting a show on KMNS Radio that I named “The Midwest Rodeo Sports Review” so when it came time to come up with an air name - Cowboy Bob stuck.   During the 80’s and 90’s I worked with a lot of Midwestern Rodeo Contractors as a Rodeo Announcer in the IPRA, URA, MSRA and the IRCA.    You can still hear me talking about the sport of Rodeo and all the area Cowboys and Cowgirls on the Y1013 and check out the Rodeo Corner at Y1013FM.com.

I’m a 1970 graduate of Woodbury Central (I’m a Wildcat).   I am currently the Program Director for Y Country 1013 and live on the air from 9 to 1pm Monday through Friday.   One of my favorite things about my job here is that I get to host two special shows – “The Y Country All Request Café” weekdays from 12 noon to 1pm and “Sunday Morning Gold” from 8a to 12p each Sunday morning on Y Country 1013.

Here is a little bit about me when not at work. I’ve lived around Moville all my life and currently on a acreage with my Blue Heeler named “Dennis” (I don’t know why I called him that, but it sure makes people talk), I also like to Team Rope and just got a new Team Roping horse named that I call “Mike”.

My favorite kind of music would be Western Swing so I’m a big George Strait fan and when it comes to a favorite country band, it’s “Asleep at the Wheel”.   I’m a big Iowa Hawkeye fan and I love to take in a least one Hawkeye game each year at Kinnick Stadium.

Hey, thank you for listening to Y Country 1013

Ben Long - Afternoons  1 to 6pm

Ben Long    Afternoon host on Y1013
Born and raised in Ida Grove, IA.  I first started thinking about radio back in High School and so I attended Morningside College with a major in communications.  I worked as the Sports Director at my college station and it was a lot fun covering games.  I even did play by play for a soccer match out of my car.  I’m a big history and geography buff so I tune in to the History Channel quite a bit.  I have lots of extended family in Sioux City so it’s great being close to them.  Not a fan of unnecessary drama, so I stay away from Jersey Shore, Big Brother, The Bachelorette, etc.  I’m a huge poker fan, love a good game of chess, and I golf when the weather cooperates.  Be sure to call in a request on the Y line during the Rolling Home Request Show brought to you by Mikes Saloon weekdays on Y1013.

Here are a few of my favorites…

  • Food  -  A rare ribeye steak
  • Movie  -  The Shawshank Redemption
  • TV show  -  The Daily Show

Bud Moore - Evenings 6 to 12mid
